What are the benefits of Hydrorock Aquifer SuDS?2020-04-29T15:06:10+00:00

For developers, planners, engineers, designers and builders, managing precious onsite water levels in urban areas is essential for the environment, but can be a huge difficulty. Hydrorock is an aquifer, a highly innovative sustainable drainage system (SuDS) which works to manage onsite rainwater and surface runoff effectively with its unique fast absorbency, buffering ability, infiltration rate and water retention capacity. Also, through the system’s infrastructure, it ensures water is equally dispersed across the whole site rather than stored centrally.

Whilst offering an intelligent and unique solution to manage onsite water, this system offers a multitude of design, usage, environmental and significant cost benefits. Read more

How do I install Hydrorock Aquifer Blocks?2020-04-29T15:07:15+00:00

Installation is very simple and quick with minimal disruption. Narrow trenches need to be excavated (30cm) with immediate back-filling as each Hydrorock Aquifer Block is installed.

The blocks are very light and capable of being lifted and installed with ease by one man. No specialist installation engineering or equipment is required, with simple snap-together fittings, no special skills or tools are needed.

For more information on installation download our technical datasheets for each system.

How should I configure my system?2020-04-29T15:07:48+00:00

The Hydrorock Natural Aquifer SuDS System can be configured into endless formats, sizes and densities specified according to system capacity requirements and above surface weight loading. The Aquifer Blocks can fit around existing infrastructure, pipes and cables, enabling optimised SuDS installations.

How do Hydrorock Aquifer SuDS work?2020-04-29T15:09:00+00:00

Hydrorock Aquifer Blocks are natural aquifers – sponges soaking up water, reservoirs holding water, and watering cans releasing water. Water is retained within the capillaries of the Hydrorock Aquifer Block or moved in and out through them by water pressure differential between inside the block and the surrounding soil. Read more

What is Hydrorock Aquifer SuDS?2020-04-29T15:09:23+00:00

Hydrorock is an aquifer, a unique water management system replicating the natural water cycle by allowing the necessary buffering, absorbency, infiltration and retention of excess water to prevent onsite flooding and drought issues.

Developed by Rockwool, this highly innovative system is made from a natural process using 100% mineral wool. Molten Basalt rock is spun into fibres which are laid down directionally to form solid blocks of varying sizes and densities. Read more
