We are excited to be shortlisted for the Water Dragon’s ‘Innovative Water System’ award! In partnership with the Future Water Association, as a shortlist we will be pitching our innovative Hydrorock Natural Aquifer SuDS System to a panel of water sector specialists – the ‘Dragons’. We are excited that our Hydrorock SuDS System has been recognised nationally as a showcase of innovation for water management and flood prevention. The final will be taking place during FloodEx 2020. What is the rationale behind Hydrorock Aquifer SuDS?

Increasing rainfall from climate change is rapidly accelerating and exacerbating problems, such as flooding. Planners, designers, developers and builders are all urgently seeking to identify and implement alternative, better, sustainable solutions. Solutions that actually work properly and are environmentally friendly.

City and council authorities recognise urbanisation has broken the water cycle in the built environment and impervious surface areas from roofing, roads and car parks are growing. As a result, ground area available for absorption and infiltration of rainwater into soil is also diminishing. Storm water runoff gathers faster and in greater volumes which means the frequency and severity of urban flooding is increasing due to overpowering of the sewage system.

The Hydrorock Natural Aquifer SuDS System works to replicate and repair the broken natural water cycle. Read all about our benefits here and what makes us so unique, compared to alternative SuDS.

The winner will be announced at FloodEx next week…watch this space!
